The parent of Southern Bank completed its acquisition of Kansas City-based Citizens Bank & Trust Co. in a deal valued at $140 million. Southern Missouri Bancorp Inc. (Nasdaq: SMBC) said it closed on the stock-and-cash transaction Friday. As a result of the deal, Kansas City-based Citizens Bancshares Co. became a subsidiary of Southern Missouri. The deal brings fast-growing Southern Bank a solid base in the Kansas City market. Citizens Bank has six area branches in the metro area and nine outside of the area.
